In the small community of Les Praz, you’ll find high-quality restaurants and bars, as well as more casual options (see our recommendations). Les Praz is also the starting point for the La Flégère ski area and home to a public golf course.
A train station, which connects all the villages in the Chamonix Valley with Martigny in Switzerland and St Gervais les Bains, is just a 10-minute walk away.
The centre of Chamonix is a 5-15 minute drive away, depending on traffic, or a 17-minute bus ride. Alternatively, you can enjoy a pleasant 45-minute walk through the forest and along the L’Arve river to reach central Chamonix. Chamonix offers a wide range of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, from famous hole-in-the-wall burger joints to gourmet, Michelin-starred establishments.
You’ll find plenty of quality shopping options, with a strong focus on outdoor clothing and equipment, featuring a variety of brands. The Chamonix Valley also offers an abundance of hiking, mountain biking, and road biking opportunities right at your doorstep.
